Writing Stories Is My Passion

Tell us a bit about your background:

I’m Wesam Zaidan, from Syria. I have been working as teacher for six years. My favorite hobbies consist of reading stories, novels, and writing children stories.

Explain one new approach to teaching and learning that you have undertaken (or are currently undertaking) this academic year.

In an era of rapid development, it is very important to use different and new strategies during the teaching and learning process, and especially when working with children. This year I’m working on uploading my short educational stories on the iPad for KG students. Children enjoy listening to stories that support and reinforce information that they learn at school.

Tell us one moment from your teaching experience that was particularly powerful, interesting, or funny.

After spending 4 years with my wonderful colleagues and friends, it was a very emotional moment when I had to leave the nursery kids and campus and move to KG.

What teaching and learning goal are you most excited to achieve by the end of this school year?

My goal this year is to keep teaching and supporting my students to be ready for the upcoming year, focusing not only on academics, but also on teaching them good manners.

Do you have any inspirational words and/or specific sites, organizations, strategies, or links that you’d like to share with other teachers?

I like watching “The Moon Slept," a show that inspires me and provides me with many ideas and good stories that help me when working with my children.
